About Himanshu

Himanshu is a partner at McKinsey, currently based in Delhi. He joined the firm in 2008 in our New York office where he was based for nine years. At McKinsey, Himanshu has worked extensively with financial institutions across North and South America, India, and the Asia-Pacific region, helping them define and execute on growth strategies, assess and improve their risk management practices, and set up and undertake fundamental transformations of their business models. He currently leads the Risk Practice in India and McKinsey’s work in risk analytics in Asia.

Examples of his recent work include the following:

  • designing and implementing an organization-wide customer engagement transformation at a private sector bank in India
  • transforming the corporate banking sales organization for one of India's largest public sector banks
  • an end-to-end SME business transformation for a leading private sector bank in India
  • a risk transformation for one of India’s largest institutional lenders

Himanshu has extensive experience in risk management across stress testing, portfolio and capital optimization, credit risk, collections, operational risk, and risk culture. He has worked extensively across asset classes—mortgages, credit cards, auto finance, other consumer loans, wealth management, SME lending, and corporate lending.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Himanshu practiced law at Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York, where he specialized in M&A.
