About Dieter

Dieter has been serving clients in Qatar since 2002, focusing on oil and gas, education, infrastructure, economic development, and financial services. He has a deep understanding of the country’s human, social, economic, and environmental development priorities, including stakeholder roles across sectors.

Dieter’s experience in Qatar includes developing the country’s industrialization strategy, including the assessment and prioritization of key sectors to help diversify the economy and boost the private sector. He co-led the research on the impact of the FIFA World Cup on Qatar’s private sector, including opportunities for diversification. He also developed a growth strategy for the country’s downstream sector.

Other examples of Dieter's work to strengthen Qatar’s development include designing and helping implement a new financing scheme for small and medium enterprises, in cooperation with the country’s commercial banking sector, and shaping a 10-year strategic plan in education and research for a leading foundation.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Dieter worked with Roland Berger as a consultant in telecommunications and retail in Belgium.
