About Alex

Alex is a cofounder of the healthcare-analytics and -delivery solution group. As the global general manager of our healthcare-analytics and -delivery work, Alex leads 250 dedicated professionals, including healthcare experts, data scientists, physicians, actuaries, statisticians, big data engineers, and product-development teams.

Alex helped assemble the technology, selected advanced analytics methods and tools, recruited professionals with healthcare-analytics backgrounds, and established the professional-development resources required to capture the value of analytics in this rapidly changing industry. Team members closely collaborate with consulting teams to create value across several important projects—for example, building predictive models to ensure better population health management in the future, more sustainable provider growth, and greater payment integrity.

Alex is also one of the technology leaders of McKinsey’s New Ventures group. He oversees and orients the technology plans, choices, architectures, and investments related to all of McKinsey’s new delivery models focused on big data, advanced analytics, and software as a service (SaaS).

With the New Ventures team, Alex has led the product development of several large-scale SaaS offerings, including Objective Health, an online performance-management application for hospitals, and HealthTracker, a tool for global health-system comparison and benchmarking. He also led the design, development, and deployment of another SaaS offering called Climate Desk, which offers an online simulation engine to estimate and model CO2 emissions in the world through 2030.

Passionate about the usage of big data and technology to help solve major challenges, Alex has dedicated most of his time at McKinsey to building the most relevant technology-enabled expertise and consulting to help solve issues, such as healthcare reform, aging populations, and healthcare value.

Examples of Alex’s recent client work include the following:

  • designing, launching, and leading the McKinsey entity dedicated to healthcare analytics, including client service, client development, recruitment, professional development, and technology leadership
  • directing the setup of the health-analytics technology team and the big data and advanced-analytics platform, which includes HIPAA-compliant data collection, data warehousing chain, analytic engines, and analytics as a service
  • managing the creation of the firm’s Solutions Technology Department for the Americas, now composed of more than 50 professionals specialized in web-application development, data analytics, and data operations
  • developing the subscription-based SaaS simulation engine Climate Desk, which is able to predict CO2 emissions until 2030, the associated technologies (present and future), and their associated costs using an online scenario-modelling engine
  • leading a consulting practice dedicated to project and program management in a global consulting firm, with duties that included managing a team of 25 consultants deployed at the client site, specializing in complex program management as well as project-management outsourcing, audit, restoration, office rollout, and trainings
  • spearheading a cross-country cost-reduction program in the retail industry

A native of France who lives in London, he performs his global role by dividing his time among the Americas, Asia, and Europe.
