Chris Wigley

Partner, London
Uses cutting-edge machine-learning and artificial-intelligence technology to transform the performance of clients

About Chris

Chris’ experience in technology, business, and international diplomacy has given him a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities for clients operating in an increasingly digitised global economy.

QuantumBlack, where Chris is solution partner, was created to bring machine learning to Formula 1 motor racing before being acquired by McKinsey in 2015. It is now the firm’s global centre of excellence for machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). Chris focuses on driving QuantumBlack’s international growth, developing its cutting-edge technology and tooling, and helping clients to unlock their performance potential through machine learning and AI. Before assuming his role at QuantumBlack, Chris served as the co-leader of digital strategy at McKinsey.

Chris is passionate about the opportunities machine learning and AI create to augment human and organisational performance. He is a frequent speaker and panel moderator on topics such as the economic impact of AI and its associated ethical questions, and he relishes the opportunity to debate issues affecting the data and advanced analytics space.

Before joining McKinsey, he served as a diplomat for the United Kingdom in a range of Asian, European, and Middle Eastern countries; worked at the new-media strategy unit of BBC; and led a small tech start-up during the original dot-com boom.
