About Matt

Matt is a partner in our London office. He leads McKinsey’s work on consumer packaged goods operations in the United Kingdom and is a leader of our work on consumer goods, ZBB, and supply-chain management in Europe.

Matt’s work focuses on SG&A optimization and integrated operations, with particular emphasis on supporting consumer packaged goods companies with zero-based budgeting and end-to-end supply-chain optimization. He works with clients to understand the nuances of their business model and the challenges and opportunities they face, helping them to treat their supply chain and operations as a means to deliver distinctive value.

Examples of his work include:

  • worked with a global beverages company to deliver more than £200 million of productivity improvement through ZBB and organizational effectiveness
  • worked with two leading food distributors on postmerger preparation, identifying more than $400 million in synergies and developing value-capture plans
  • helped a $30 billion global beverage company to redesign its supply-chain operating model to improve customer service and save $100 million through plant and warehouse consolidation
  • supported a $10 billion global apparel maker in developing a comprehensive supply-chain strategy to enable 50 percent top-line growth over the next five years through strategic initiatives and capability development
  • assisted a pharmaceutical distributor with the creation of new supply-chain flows to serve the needs of individual customer segments while enabling savings of $300 million in inventory and $100 million in expenses

Matt has more than 20 years’ experience of driving successful business performance improvement and strategic transformation. Before joining McKinsey, he held a number of senior operational roles at The Home Depot in the United States.
