About Mauricio

Mauricio brings deep experience in supporting public sector and infrastructure clients across the world, on topics spanning strategy, corporate finance, commercial and operational transformations, and construction. He has particular expertise in optimizing the construction and operations of transportation assets, ranging from road networks to ports.

Examples of Mauricio’s work include:

  • Helping public sector clients drive capex and cost reduction in road projects—including through reviewing technical standards, improving procurement, and shaping leaner operations
  • Developing an infrastructure investment vehicle, including helping shape the overall strategy and governance model   
  • Designing the IT services procurement strategy for a large city, focused on greater efficiency and significantly improved service levels
  • Working with a large construction company on its operational turnaround, delivering significant savings in engineering, construction, procurement, and administration
  • Supporting state owned enterprises (SOEs) in their preparation for minority stake IPOs

Mauricio has also supported private sector companies and state-owned enterprises in a range of other industries, including banking, utilities, holding companies, and real estate developers.

Passionate about building capabilities in our clients and our teams, Mauricio leads the global learning programs of McKinsey’s Capital Productivity and Infrastructure Practice.

During his McKinsey career, Mauricio has worked in multiple countries across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. Prior to joining McKinsey, he worked for a hedge fund in New York and in the Treasury of Tenaris in Latin America. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, English, and Hebrew.

Outside of McKinsey, Mauricio has been involved in several non-profit initiatives—mostly recently in reviewing the strategy, operations, and fundraising for a food bank.
