Philipp leads our Risk Practice in Western Europe. A lawyer by training, he has advised financial institutions and governments around the world on strategy, risk, capital markets, and regulatory issues.

Examples of Philipp's recent client work include the following:

  • regulatory remediation program for a European bank
  • design and execution of a capital-management program for a global bank
  • design of a corporate strategy for a leading European universal bank
  • supporting a Comprehensive-Capital-Analysis-and-Review (US stress-testing) submission
  • setup of a European “bad bank”
  • assessment of the impact of new regulation on a global investment bank.

Philipp has also worked extensively with exchanges, clearinghouses, and central securities depositories across the globe on strategy, M&A, and regulatory matters.

Philipp regularly speaks at conferences on banking and regulation.

Prior to joining McKinsey in 2000, Philipp worked as a capital markets and M&A attorney in Germany and London.
