About Tom

Tom leads OrgSolutions by McKinsey in EMEA, a group that works with clients to drive substantial improvements in organisational health and performance through proprietary assets and capabilities built on data and analytics.

Tom brings leading edge knowledge and pattern recognition in organisation design, transformation, and analytics to address client challenges. Using his expertise, he counsels clients across multiple sectors, particularly in healthcare, energy, and basic materials.

Some examples of his recent client work include the following: 

  • applying traditional organisational design, zero based budgeting, and agile approaches to redesign more than 15 major organisations
  • diagnosing and embedding behavioural change into more than 100 transformations, driving the creation of new habits to sustain performance
  • redefining the operating model of a major healthcare organisation to deliver on a new mandate and rebalance power between regions and the centre
  • aligning the culture of a chemicals manufacturer around a new strategic direction
  • creating new health governance for an emerging economy, including the devolution of primary care from a centrally managed to a locally managed system to improve outcomes
  • deploying advanced analytics in strategic workforce planning to deliver a new talent strategy to provide the workforce of the future for a bank

Tom is a lead facilitator for McKinsey’s executive Change Leaders Forum and a guest speaker at INSEAD on organisational analytics. He also acts as regular faculty for the Marketing Academy’s fellowship programme for CMOs looking to transition to CEO roles.

Before joining McKinsey, Tom worked as an engagement manager at strategy consulting firm, focused mainly on corporate strategy, leadership, and analytics as applied to the healthcare sector.
